modern bass design and has innovated many aspects of the
modern approach of building basses. MTD was founded in 1994

"I have been building instruments since 1974. I started in Washington, D.C., working in The Guitar Shop and doing repairs for a time to learn about other luthiers' instruments and construction methods. |
The most important
thing I learned is that, no matter what the instrument is, it is
first and foremost acoustic. If an instrument sounds weak acoustically,
adding pick-ups will just amplify its shortcomings. Throughout
my career I have tried to apply this principal to everything I
build. By experimenting with different types and combinations of
wood, I seek to get the best possible tone from an instrument.
And, by using different woods for body and neck, I am able to offer
a wide variety of speaking voices and tonal capabilities.

The Kingston Heir bass has all the same great features of the Kingston Artist and adds a Flamed Maple top and a single Jazz pickup in the neck position. These basses are available in Tobacco Sunburst and translucent Dark Cherry Sunburst. The Heir also comes as a fretless with a lined Ebonol fingerboard in Tobacco Sunburst. Electronics and hardware are made to MTD specifications in Korea. |
