This is a greatly simplified but effective arrangement of the Spanish classic 'Malaguena'. While not as complex as 'Spanish Study'. this piece offers the opportunity to start using the a (ring) finger. 'Malaguena' also has two distinctly different sections that require contrasting interpretations. Measures 1-10 and 27-36 comprise the introduction and ending, and should be played in a vigorous manner. The middle section consisting of measures 11-26 should be played with a slower tempo and a more introspective approach. This section also requires sounding two notes simultaneously on the first beat of each measure. As with all pieces of
this nature, attention to detail in both left and right hand fingerings is
crucial. If you find it difficult using the prescribed right hand fingerings
in this tune, try coming up with your own. Be sure to write them down so
the consistency is maintained. - Tony Beaulaurier |
